Reactive PLIF Method for Characterisation of Micromixing in Continuous High-Throughput Chemical Reactors

This work aimed to test and optimise reactive Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) methods for the visualisation of micromixing regions in chemical reactors using standard PLIF Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) equipment with laser source 512 nm. Two were tested: (i) an acid–base reaction fluorescein as reaction-sensitive tracer (ii) Fenton’s reaction, Rhodamine B tracer. Both test-reactions studied stopped-flow define suitable operational conditions, namely composition inflow streams, concentration reagents fluorophore, excitation light wavelength. The was tested a continuous flow reactor T-jet geometry. A sheet emitted from Nd:YAG illuminated axial section demonstration reactor. mixing dynamics course visualised images. method showed overall distribution regions. main contribution this is benchmarking two costs that enable high-throughput reactors.
